We’re rounding up all the latest news on how ChatGPT is impacting the book publishing industry.
This week, Clarkesworld made news for halting all submissions after being overwhelmed by a flood of AI-generated content.
Engadget reported that ChatGPT has now authored or co-authored at least 200 books on the Amazon Kindle store, which actual numbers potentially much higher since AI authorship disclosure is not currently required.
Udemy is now offering a course titled “ChatGPT to Self-Publish a Bestselling Book in 24 Hours: Learn how to use ChatGPT to write and self-publish a book on Amazon – ChatGPT Can Make You an Author Now!”
On Medium, Michael King argues for using ChatGPT to speed read books: “Its deep understanding of language and context allows it to extract the essence of a book and present it to you in an easily understandable format. So why waste time and energy struggling to get through long, tedious books when you can use ChatGPT to quickly and efficiently acquire the knowledge you need?”
And back in December, BookRiot noted that AI-published children’s books were starting to hit the market.
