It’s the perfect read for those who enjoy personal development books with a real-talk vibe, and we loved getting it in front of those hustlers who might need it most!

In Toxic Grit, Amanda Goetz calls out the pressure to “do it all” and offers a much kinder, more realistic way forward. She blends personal stories with practical advice to help readers let go of burnout culture and actually feel good about life again. It’s honest, relatable, and reads like a friend reminding you that you don’t have to hustle yourself into the ground to be successful!

The campaign included a mix of banners aimed at reaching career-driven women, working moms, and nonfiction/self-help readers. We layered in traits like Goodreads users, self-help podcast listeners, LinkedIn-engaged professionals, and readers interested in personal development, health and wellness. Comps featured authors like Eve Rodsky, Emily Nagoski, Glennon Doyle, and Brené Brown, while keywords included terms and phrases like hustle culture, toxic productivity, career and motherhood, mental health and ambition, and books for working moms.


The ads performed especially well with our proprietary genre read-alikes (0.63% CTR!), self-help readers browsing content about Eve Rodsky, Girlboss Radio, hustle culture, toxic productivity, etc. (0.30% CTR), and tablet users reading content about self-improvement (0.29% CTR). We also saw strong engagement from career-driven readers browsing sites sites like NY Times, CNN, People, The Guardian, and Harper’s Bazaar (.20% CTR). Overall, the campaign finished at a solid 0.25% CTR and a 1.30% interaction rate, running across top sites including The Atlantic, The New Yorker, Forbes, BuzzFeed, and more.
